Funny Langage Stuff

Today is our first day without class. Hmmm. Not sure what to do with myself, to be honest. You would think that I would have enjoyed sleeping in. But no. I woke up, and I mean wide awake, at 5:30 AM. WHAT??? I was so mad. I didn't even wake up that early when we were going to class five days a week. So, I got up and surfed the web a bit and played a game on the computer. Around 7:00 AM I went back to bed, just as Brent was waking up. I got all snuggled back into bed and Brent asks if I want to get up and go for a walk. I grumpily said "NO!". He said "OK", and got up and walked. I woke up around 9:30. THEN, I went for a walk.
As I walked to the Tel Aviv Port I witnessed something that I though you might get a kick out of.
There is a word in Hebrew that makes Brent and I laugh every time. Sarah would use it a lot in class when things would get a little out of control. In English the word means enough and in Hebrew it sounds like "die". So imagine, Sarah has introduced a new word and everyone in the class is talking in their various languages with classmates that speak that language and we are all trying to define the word. And people keep talking and Sarah is ready to move on and says "Die, die die!" If we said that to someone in US people would think we were so mean. But it means enough not stop living. It just made me chuckle every time.
So, as I'm walking I pass a woman whose baby is in the stroller crying and I hear her saying to her baby "Die, die, die." WHAT???? Oh that's right, I'm in Israel and she is telling her baby "That's enough crying, ssshhhhh, it's OK, hush." What a strange sensation to hear a word that sounds the same in two different languages but has COMPLETELY different meanings!
